I’ve been shooting, but nothing too exciting, especially with the impending cold weather (although today was pleasantly balmy) and the holidays coming in. I already have tons of great ideas about what I want to give people. Still, there’s a certain wistful-ness that comes with the changing weather (or maybe I’m just crazy) but it feels so inspiring. Alright, that was a terrible lead-in, I apologize. I just wanted to take a moment and geek about my inspirations.
A lot of photographers like to keep a photo wall or photo folder full of inspirational photos, and I do too. I think it’s really nice to be able to glance across all these amazing works of art, and while sometimes it makes me feel pretty down on myself, it also reminds me that there’s a lot to work for. Every month I rip out my favorite photos from Vogue, and sometimes Wired too. The photos that catch my eye are usually of two totally different categories. On one hand, I love things that I feel that are “in my style” so to speak; the feel is something I’d love to able to produce. The other thing is photos that I almost don’t even like, but are so exemplary that I can’t help but love them, although I’d never be able to (or necessarily want to) ever be able to do something like that.
Check out some of my favorite photographs, and feel free to add some of your own too. I’m always looking for new people to stalk–…. admire.
